I have been grooming on my own since 2003. Before that I worked for other groomers for a total of about 2 years.
We are a very small business. My shop is in my basement, so all of the pets that come to me get 100% of my time. I never use any tranquilizers and try to never muzzle any dog. I take my time to insure that my clients are completely satisfied.
I also board dogs, but in a unique way. We don't just put dogs in kennels and expect them to be happy and healthy while they are away from their family. We let them interact with each other on a daily basis, and we make sure they get the proper amount of exercise appropriate for that breed of dog.
I also do basic obedience training, emphasizing on how to walk a single dog and multiple dogs correctly. On a daily basis I come in contact with people that can't seem to control their dogs on a walk, so they in turn hate to walk them. My specialty is teaching them how to be a pack leader while on walks. Every dog that comes through my door understands that I am pack leader, and that they are to be calm submissive, while at the same time I am calm and assertive.
